Descent Procedural Generation is Now Here!

What's rocking?

To be honest, I was expecting this to take another week, but here we are! 0.3.0! The dungeon system is now here with spawn tables, item tables, and more! This is turning more and more into the JRPG-style project I wanted to make.

Well what does 3.0.0 Include?

To access the proc gen, go to the mineshaft-looking place with the rails and press "Space" near the ladder. (Will hotfix with signs and an icon over the player's head later)

There is now a system in place for how the Descent will work. Each floor is procedurally generated with a seed populated with chests and enemies, and it isn't that bad! I'll let you in on a little secret: There are no looping routes that circle around. Enemy spawn rates aren't going to be ridiculous, so you can still get lucky and go through a floor while avoiding fights. At the end, it's going to loop you back to the Debug room so in that way you're not stuck.

Now, enemies and chests can drop items, currency, or both! They share similar scripts, so it was very easy to implement. I also borrowed some of the script for enemy spawn tables. Items are pulled from a list which allows me to easily incorporate item rarity.

I was going to release music this week, but that's best saved for later. I am most likely going to make music its own devlog as stated last week, but basically the combat music is *almost* done. I just need to add more folk/bardstyle/fantasy elements to the rock stuff I already put down. It's a clash been military and fantasy after all! (I also need to figure out looping music for Unity)

Moving Forward with the STORY DEMO COMING SOON!

Well, all of the major gameplay features are now here to play around with as a tech demo of sorts. It's now time to work on the actual ACTUAL demo with the story. I don't have a set time for this, but it could take between 2-4 months before the final demo is released. I met with someone who's open to helping out while I help him out with his projects- playing on our strengths and weaknesses.

HOWEVER, THERE WILL STILL BE MORE UPDATES UNTIL THEN. This demo and the final demo are going to be different branches, yet I am going to push final demo stuff into this branch such as bugfixes, minor and major features, and more! For example, while I work on the final demo branch, I'm going to push music from that branch to this one as something like 0.3.X. I have spring break coming up, so I'm going to have time to not only develop the game at an accelerated pace, but I'm also going to have time to stream game development!

Expect more content, store page changes, and overhauls coming your way!
