Controller Support Now Available!
Soldiers' Descent » Devlog
Hey, it's SnakeF8!
With keyboard support implemented last week, I couldn't just ignore the ability to play with a gamepad. I really want to try and recreate that retro-emulated experience, so I event went out of the way to lock the joystick to 8 directions! It might sound limiting, but I fine-tuned the movement in such a way to make it extremely pleasant. Have a look below because it's actually pretty smooth.
The controller support uses standard button binds (joystick to move, 'Start' to pause, 'A' to select, etc.). The only binding I think is worth stating is bumpers rotate the camera.
Patch Notes:
- Added controller support
- Added a 3-point bilinear filtering shader
- Tweaked lighting
- Updated the debug arena to have more detail
- Bugfix: Fixed loading the game not working properly (time.timescale issue)
- Bugfix: Fixed bug where you couldn't load the game multiple times after saving
- Bugfix: Fixed enemy hoverover to work when hovering with keyboard/controller
- Bugfix: Readded floor change sound (was broken from keyboard support)
- Additional smaller bugfixes
- There is a known FIXED bug where a dialogue choice will loop on keyboard/controller when there is no dialogue after it
- BUT this is temporarily fixed with a "." box when a response is selected.
- Removed music because I was not satisfied with it
