Soldiers' Descent 0.1.2 Update
What’s rocking? It feels good knowing that within the first week of releasing Soldiers’ Descent first alpha version, this project’s shape is slowly refining more and more with two points on the roadmap done! I have decided to release this current build because I feel like this expands upon the concept enough to warrant a release. The changes are best shown in the UI menus to display what is going on behind the hood. The equipment system is fully expanded with equipment and ammo properly saving on the assigned party member.
In the current build, anyone can equip any armor, but certain party members can equip specific weapons unique to them. The damage, defense, and who can equip are all temporarily inserted into the description, but this will be changed eventually. There are also some minor bug fixes and modified features such as the “Give To” text only displaying with an item in the inventory is selected. This is a minor update, but this version shows concepts that are much more refined.
The foundations are set up, and now it is time to build. If you’re a returning downloader, you may be interested in seeing these new features. To first-time viewers on this article: Welcome to the Descent. Please let me know what you think in the comments. If there are any bugs, please let me know, and I will pump out a hotfix or an update with hotfixes!
Here is the summarized changelog for 0.1.2:
- Weapons, armor, and ammo can now be properly equipped
- Weapons, armor, and ammo save/load properly
- Weapons, armor, and ammo properly show up in the party screen UI and update on equipment change
- Fixed “Give To” bug where sometimes it would not work
- ”Give To” options now only show when an item is selected in the inventory
- Equipment modifies party member’s stats (It’s not seen because it’s in the backend but armor and ammo are modifying stat values)
- Multiple null reference exceptions patched out
