Tech Demo Launch and Moving Forward!


What's rocking? It feels great to finally have something out as a tech demo. There is definitely a lot of stuff planned, but everything presented shares the general concept. The "What's Yet to Come" list is a general roadmap on what to expect within the game's development, and from top to bottom is the order in which I plan to add this stuff.

What's Here in the Demo:

  • Movement (WASD) and camera controls (Q and E)
  • Dialogue that branches with varying events
  • Working inventory system and party menu
  • Item spawning (for debug purposes), and using those items
  • Proper saving/loading
  • A rough design on turn-based combat

What's Implemented, but Not Featured:

  • Procedurally generated floor system with a tracker
  • Intro cutscene
  • Descent hub and first dungeon layer
  • Flag system for story progression


What's Yet to Come (A more detailed list, but this is the bare minimum of features left for the demo to be considered "done"):

  • Proper equipment system
  • Fleshed out combat
  • Using ammo as the damage stat
  • Weapon properties such as fire mode, accuracy, type, etc.
  • Descent hub and first Descent layer *in the demo*
  • Proper enemy AI (Navmesh in the Descent layer, unique AI during combat)
  • First boss
